My Teaching Pedagogy
As an educator, I aim to meld my roles of artist, researcher and educator into one seamless role that dedicates itself to providing an enriching class room experience.
I use the word experience before environment because fine art/ design goes beyond the space of the classroom alone and the experience of the subject affects the class environment. I believe the subject is as important as the teachers ability to bring it to life.
I believe it is impetrative for students to not feel not feel pressured by the systematic presentation of the subject. Instead I aim to create a new wave of energy which can help break the rigidity of prescribed curricula.
In order to create this type of classroom environment, I place a particular emphasis on an exploration of contemporary art. I believe contemporary art should be accessible and enriching to all.
By nurturing student confidence and curiosity in the classroom, it becomes possible to break preconceptions and expand perspectives.
Overall I want to encourage students to not be afraid to have ambition and creativity in any system they find themselves in.
This in my view is the essence of life long learning.
An honest classroom environment is based on the confidence and trust that exists between teacher and student. Barriers can be broken when the student feels safe in their creativity.
